The school year is moving along quickly. Our class is off to a great start and we are thrilled with how much we've grown as a group. Wonderful friendships are blossoming. As we move into the Thanksgiving holiday season, we'll be exploring and learning all about Native Americans and the story of the first Thanksgiving. Children are encouraged to brainstorm about things they are thankful for. We also have a 'kindness cornucopia' in the classroom. This is a place where spontaneous acts of kindness are noted on small pieces of paper and put into the cornucopia. We will read these at the end of each week. If there are any acts of kindness done at home, please bring them to us. The home-school relationship helps bring excitement to learning.
Our Tools of the Mind make believe planned play has been a blast for the children and we will soon be transforming our classroom into a grocery store. Please take your child on a 'field trip' to your local grocery store. This would be a wonderful opportunity to introduce different areas, tools, and vocabulary that may be used by employees and customers. This will help them tremendously during our prop making and role playing. Also, feel free to bring in any empty food containers from home. We can use them for play props.
Thank you for your ongoing support. And as always, you are welcome to share any questions or concerns with us.
Reminders:
Grandparent/Special Friend Day is Friday. Our in class celebration is from 10:30-11:30. This is an opportunity for children to share their classroom with our guests.
Canned Food Drive is the 17th-21st. Our classroom goal is 220 cans of food! We'll be discussing people in need. Please help us reach our goal.
